Prior learning readiness check
Seven questions, about two minutes. You’ll see how ready your experience is for a university’s prior learning assessment, and exactly what to gather next.
Strong starting point
You likely have the experience and evidence that assessors look for. Send us your details and we’ll match you with programs whose prior learning rules suit you.
Promising, with a few gaps
Your experience is relevant. Closing the gaps below will make your portfolio much stronger, and we can help you do that.
An early start
A degree is still within reach, but credit from experience may be limited for now. Start with the steps below, or ask us about programs with flexible entry for adults.
Your next steps
This check doesn’t predict how much credit you’ll get. Each university decides that after assessing your evidence.
What assessors look for
Whatever the country calls it, a prior learning assessment asks one question: does your evidence show that you’ve already met a course’s learning outcomes? Time in a job helps, but evidence decides. That’s why this check weighs documents, certificates and referees as heavily as years of experience.
Evidence that usually carries weight
- Job descriptions and appraisals that show your responsibilities
- Work you produced: reports, plans, code, training materials, budgets
- Certificates from professional bodies and recognised training
- References from managers or clients, on letterhead
- Transcripts from any earlier college or university study
